QCan I get to Arugam Bay directly from the airport?
Yes. A fixed-price taxi from Bandaranaike (CMB) to Arugam Bay is a 7–8 hour drive costing from £86. Many surfers prefer to overnight in Colombo first or fly into Mattala Rajapaksa (HRI) which is much closer to the east coast.
QDo I need to bring my own board?
Most surf schools and camps at Weligama, Hikkaduwa, Midigama, and Arugam Bay rent boards. Bring your own only if you have a preferred setup for advanced reef breaks.
Getting to the Surf from Bandaranaike Airport (CMB)
All surf spots are reachable by fixed-price taxi from Bandaranaike International Airport. The drive to the southwest coast (Weligama, Mirissa, Galle) takes 2.5–3 hours. The drive to Arugam Bay on the east coast is longer — around 7–8 hours — so most surfers overnight in Colombo or fly into Mattala (HRI) for the east season.
